Apple announce AirPods Pro Gen 2 in the September 2022 event which is the upgraded version of AirPods pro Gen 1. This is in line up with the iPhone 14 series along with the Apple Watch 8 and Apple Watch Ultra. AirPods Pro generation 1 was a super hit model and it had a big impact in the market. So many other vendors tried to replicate the same but still they are out of luck. They were not able to produce such a compact and power full model. It is one great example of Apple design and hard work. It looked to be a great Alien design when it was introduced. Now so many companies are trying to make it in the same way. Let us have a look into the new features announced in the September event for Gen 2

Design

The design looks the same as like the Gen1, the AirPods looks to have slight difference in the size and the features has been re engineered. The touch controls has been updated in the is design from switch model to slide/swipe model. The outer design and the internals looks to be same size and shape. So there is no mo much new things to discuss in this. They have introduced the new H2 Chip which has the advanced audio performance. It has the custom built driver and amplifier for clear sound, bass and audio definition.

The Apple AirPods Pro Gen 2 has all those old features as like the Gen 1 with some re-engineered features which is the updated or upgrade of the existing one.Next-Level Active Noise Cancellation , Adaptive Transparency mode, Spatial Audio, Swipe control instead of pinch and More battery life. These are the features that has been upgraded in this model. Let us have a look into these upgrades in detail.

Next Level Noise Cancellation

The next level noise cancellation is the feature that reduces unto to 2 times more noise cancellation than the previous models with the help of the H2 Processor.  So it improves the quality of the sound, music and songs that you listen. The noise cancelling microphones are placed in such a way it can work along with the rear vent of quickly detect in coming sound and work together to counter the noise before it reaches your ear. This is done using the most powerful Active noise Cancellation Algorithm designed for Apple. This helps you in situation where you need absolute focus.

Adaptive Transparency

This is upgraded version of transparency mode in the Generation 1 model. Now with the help of H2 chip and the great processing algorithms, they were able to achieve this adaptive transparency mode. The best part in this is that the external sounds are made to the hearing comfort of your ears. If you come across sirens from fire engines, ambulance or a police patrol which is too noisy it might be loud inside the ear. So with the new technology the sound is reduced and processed so that you can conformably hear them without any damage. The noise reduction is done at 48,000 times per second as per Apple.

Swipe Controls

This is the next upgrade from the pinch controls in the old version. In Gen 1 you need to pinch the stem of the AirPods you can hear the click sound. In this new model you can swipe up or down to adjust volume, press to play and pause the music. you can also answer and end the call or hold to switch between Active Noise cancellation an Adaptive Transparency modes with the Swipe up and down. So that it is simple like using a sound slider without the control knobs. This feature looks to be cool.

Spatial Audio in Apple AirPods Pro Gen 2

This is the next level of Audio experience provided to the user. This is kind of audio personalisation, so that you can listen the music according to your likes. The special feature of this I love is the dynamic head tracking which works so cool. The movement of the audio will take you to the next level of experience. This was there in the older models also. Now it seems to have been improved with Adaptive Equalisers and True depth Camera. The great part of this is scans your ear and head geometry and stores it. So that you get a better experience based on your own physical profile. This is true next level of engineering. The dynamic head tracking brings in  3D sound experience.

Silicone Ear Tips

In the Apple AirPods Pro Gen 2 they have added one more tip extra which is the Extra Small (XS) model to help users who need it. This is an upgrade done based on the previous model feedbacks. So Apple listens to the feedbacks of the customers. When you submit a feedback on Apple site, you might not get an confirmation email back to you but this shows it counts.

The case that holds the 2 AirPods is simply great and that does not need any design upgrade. As you know this is the thinest design in the industry and no one has matched this. The MagSafe wireless charing adds more value but still you can use your lighting connector to charge the case. This is really nice feature to have backward compatibility.

Battery Life

The battery life is the one major area where every one competes, In this new model the battery life has been improved to 6 hrs on Active noise Cancellation compared to 3.5 Hrs on the previous models. The case itself hold the capacity to charge the AirPods 5 times means upto 30 Hrs you can get extra. Now no need to worry about using single AirPods in case of emergency. Still you have the backup power.

Find my Pods

Now in this new version Apple has announced that with the new U1 chip which enables Find My device with a precise finding. You can use it with proximity view if you lose track of the AirPods Pro Gen 2. The speakers in the case has been updated to play much more tones to alert you. Now they have provisioned for Lanyard loop that allows to attach the case to your backpacks or bags.

The new release version of Apple AirPods Pro Gen 2 looks to be so cool, with new improved features on the same design. Really looking forward for this and will have a check on this once I get it. Innovation has started in the features area on the sounds. So that it is very useful in the market of Audio. This will be again a best companion for iPhone 14 and older models, Apple Watch 8 and other old models. Also with the Apple Watch Ultra which is the new one in the market this year. Not sure if there any surprise that might happen in Apple October Event 2022 this year.
