Apple is one of the favourite brand for most of the people around the world but still they do some recall programs. They are know for making the best products. The hardware they design and use is one  of the best in class I would say. So it lasts long even after Apple itself discontinues it’s supports it still keeps working. Could see still in the market the old iPhones, MacBooks that use the old hard disks and heavy ones.

It is known for its hardware and software support. So people around the world use it to a large scale. I have friends who still use the old iPhones. That is the reason why there are only less complaints in service on Apple. Still there are few service programs that has made Apple to recall the products for service.  So let us look into a few Recall Programs that are still active. Apple customer first is well know and it has been proved in various Service programs like the one for keyboard.

15-inch MacBook Pro Battery Apple Recall Program

This was announced in June 2019 for he 15-inch MacBook models that were sold between September 2015 and February 2017. The reason for this recall is that they found overheating issues which may pose a fire risk to the device. This came to picture after a few customers reported fire damages, looks to have exploded but the damage was very less. After this Apple decided to replace the batteries on the model that had the defective battery.

Apple launched the batter Recall Programs in which you can validate the serial number of the defective model and get the battery replacement done at free of cost. The number of reports for this kind of issue looks to be so minimal around 20 to 25 but still Apple was great enough to replace the batteries for all.  You can have a check for the serial number to make sure you are not affected.

Replacement Process

Choose one of the service options below to have your battery replaced. Your MacBook Pro will be examined prior to any service to verify that it is eligible for this program. Service may take 3-5 days.

  • Find an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
  • Make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store.
  • Contact Apple Support to arrange mail-in service via the Apple Repair Center.
  • To prepare your MacBook Pro for service, please back up your data.

AC Wall Plug Recall Programs

Apple had found some issues with the AC wall plugs that for shipped between 2003 to 2015 with Mac and certain IOS devices that were included in the Apple world Travel Adapter Kit. This was designed to use in Continental Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Korea, Argentina and Brazil. The issue is that it may break or create a risk of electrical shock if touched. As customer safety is the first priority for Apple they have decided to exchange the affected wall plug adapters with a new redesigned adapter.

How to Identify the models affected.

Have a check on the images published by Apple. The affected wall plug has a 4 to 5 characters or no characters on the inside slot where it attaches to the power adapter. So identify the redesigned ones they have made the code to be 3 digits to cache the region code of that country like (EUR,AUS,ARG or BRA and KOR).

Exchange Process

you can choose one of the following options below. Apple will need to verify your Mac, iPad, iPhone or iPod serial number as part of the exchange process so please find your serial number in advance. Finding your device serial number is easy.

  • Exchange your adapter(s) at your local Apple Store (Genius Bar reservation recommended) or an Authorized Apple Service Provider.
  • Contact Apple Support.

Apple Three-Prong AC Wall Plug Adapter Recall Program

Apple identified that there is a very rare case of issue with the three-prong AC wall plug adapters. That are shipped around 2003 to 2010 with the Mac and World Travel Adapter kit. The issues seems to have affected only in the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Hong Kong models. The same kind of issue that we had for AC wall plugs.

Apple decided to recall these adapters and advices customers affected by this issue to return and get a new redesigned model. So they are safe to use and there should be no issues later. Customer first is already proved here by Apple.

Identification

Compare your adapter to the images in the apple website. Affected three-prong wall plug adapters are white, with no letters in the inside slot where it attaches to an Apple power adapter. New adapters are white with gray on the inside portion that attaches to the power adapter.

Final Thoughts

There are quite a few Apple recall programs are there in-spite of the great hardware manufacturing terms and conditions. Apple has their own Quality Control on the manufactures but still a few slip put in the way. Here we could see the cause for the wall socket and plugs are due to the design issue. So the manufacturer has no part in this. Manufactures are safe and Apple has to bear the cost of the replacements world wide. In the other case of battery not sure it is of the manufacturer fault or the design fault. There was no clear details on this where was the issue. So Apple solved it with replacement.

All these Recall programs are aimed to provide Customer satisfaction and safety as the first priority. There are also other programs like the replacement programs and Service programs like MacBook &  keyboard service programs. I love Apple products due to the fact that they admit their fault in Public. So they are not worried about the reputation damage it might cause but this has increased their reputation. So I am happy to be an Apple customer.
