Apple watch is one of the most famous brand sold as an iconic brand all over the world. It is on the top list for sales in smart watch. The journey started in 2015 with the first generation apple watch is 7 years ago. Now we are in the launch of the 8th Generation. There were so many changes that happened during the first 5 generations and after which there was no much change. Finally Apple understood the need for change and here comes the new series called Ultra. The look and feel of this Apple watch Ultra 8 is stunning at the first look. It is made with the most rugged feeling design. The case is made up for titanium a aerospace grade material. So that it will be light in weight and strong inside. It is mainly made for sports persons and who are interested in exploring different heights. The heights can be of the mountains or the depth below the sea. So it shows clearly not for normal people but can get it if they are ready to shell out the extra cost for the features that they do not use. The only option they can feel good about that is the battery life. Also if they have a bigger wrist or like to have bigger screen then this fits them.

We have got a new switch called the Action button which gives you quick physical control, when you are busy doing workouts, swimming, diving or climbing up the mountain. So this is one extra feature added other than the crown dial. Now they have added Dual speaks and more sensitive 3 mic array. So that you can take the calls without the help of the airpods. Also there is a feature for siren which can be used in emergency when you are lost. The sound is around 86 decibel which will be heard around 180 meters based on the conditions.

 

Size of Apple Watch Ultra 8

There is only one size available in this model which is 49 mm. This is too big for a normal wrist  and it looks big thicker. Display is made up of Always-on Retina display with brightness upto 2000 nits. so this looks good we can see the details in clear light more efficiently than the older models.

Features of Apple Watch Ultra 8

Water resistance upto 100 Meters which is good for deep scuba divers, the Ip6x Dust resistance helps to be used in extreme conditions where dust and rain are major things that could affect. This helps to keep it clean and safe. The Way finder option in the compass is a value added feature. So when you are lost in the forest or in some mountain area where there is no coverage, it helps to track back the exact path. This will help you to come back in the same path you went. Good Feature I would say for those who are more into trekking the forest and mountains.

The watch can operate  between -20 c to 55 c which is a value added feature to be used in cold and hot weathers. This is more helpful for those expedition goers. So it is a good to have a feature in this kind of watch.

This also helps the sports persons to monitor it as it is more critical for them when there are in extreme situations.

Fall detection was introduced long back and there are news that it have same so many people when there is a fall. It helps to identify the fall of the person due to some reason. Here comes the most expected thing in an APple watch, the battery. They have increased the capacity of the battery yo hold 36 hrs of normal usage and 60 hrs low power mode. This has came in the cost of the bigger case of 49mm. This is the only draw back I could see

Cellular

With the cellular features built in it provides the eSIM service which is a good to have for these kind of watches. When it is paired along with AirPods Pro Gen-1 or AirPods Pro Gen-2 which is to be related you can get the best sound experience.

Bands

As usual there are so many models of bands and they are made to look the watch more rugged. You can choose as you like.

Price

This is as usual there is an increase in the price and it costs around 1499 NZ $ which is more or less the cost of an Iphone.

Final Comments

Finally the Apple watch Ultra has some good features and it comes at the cost of an Iphone. This is a good options for only sports and outdoor activity people. Not a good choice for small wrist person and women who have smaller wrist. So it also depends on the like of the individual. Some might like bigger case. Still finally the battery life is still hours and days as the competitors are in weeks and months. Apple needs to have a look into this to make this more successful. Overall I Love the design and the enhancements. This will be also good to go with the new iPhone 14 models.
